Support package for staff helps Yes win City & Guilds Employer of the Year category.

P>Cardiff-based YES Loans & Mortgages has won The City & Guilds Employer of the Year category at this year's National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange. It scooped the prestigious title at a ceremony hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald in front of 1,200 business leaders, VIPs and press at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

Already crowned The City & Guilds Employer of the Year at the Wales and West County regional heats back in July, YES Loans & Mortgages fully packages residential and secured loan enquiries on behalf of independent financial advisors and mortgage brokers throughout the UK.

Edwina McQueen heads up the City & Guilds Business Unit, working with major employers such as London Underground and Royal Mail to identify training needs, create bespoke programmes and accredit training. One of the judging panel, she explains: "The finalists were all very strong but this year's winner stood out by a mile. The presentation was made by their head of operations who convinced all of us with his passion and enthusiasm for the company. He was proof of how YES" genuine concern for the well-being of its workers has such a positive impact on morale.

"Our own research indicates employees put "being appreciated" as a major contributor to how fulfilled they feel at work; they need to feel that employers recognise and appreciate the contribution they make. This is where YES excels: paying for homesick staff to fly home and see their loved ones, or changing working hours from full to part-time without reducing pay for a worker returning after sick leave - YES shows clear generosity and benevolence towards its employees, going above and beyond the norm."

YES" Awards success is attributed to it positioning its staff at the very foundation of its success. YES believes what matters is how valued its staff consider themselves to be. YES strives to ensure that its employees can be confident of a future where development and career opportunities are available and where their working environment is comfortable, healthy and has a proven community responsibility.

The National Business Awards recognises and rewards excellence, innovation and success. Uniquely open to organisations of all sizes and from any industry sector "“ public or private "“ the best of British businesses are able to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against firms and bodies of all types.
