Apprentice1st brings in learndirect for rapid expansion

Online learning provider learndirect has struck a deal to provide maths and English skills to more than 1000 apprentices in the hospitality sector.

The company is partnering with Apprentice1st, which specialises in supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Apprenticeship delivery, to support its rapid growth plans.

Apprentices will be able to access the learndirect courses through an online learning portal already being run by Apprentice1st, a joint venture between sector skills council People 1st and business support specialist Exemplas. They will also have access to extra tutor support from learndirect’s assessor base in Leicester.

The functional skills will be delivered to around 150 apprentices in the first year, rising to more than 1000 the following year.

Andrea Dodd, Apprentice1st’s operation director, said: “We’ve got rapid growth plans for the next year and needed a company which could scale up the delivery with us.”
