Arlene Philips to judge new VQ insider prize

Wednesday, 21 April 2010 19:54

Arlene_Philips
Entertainment icon Arlene Phillips OBE will host and judge a new Industry Insider Prize as part of this year's VQ Day celebrations.

VQ Day, now in its third annual year, celebrates vocational achievement with a range of activities designed to raise the profile of practical learning.

This year, the prize is open to students in the world of arts and entertainment, and industry expert Ms Philips will help decide which learner has shown exceptional talent in this area.

"I'm honoured to be involved in the Industry Insider Prize," says Ms Philips.

"Identifying new talent is so important for the future growth of any industry - I'm really excited that this year the world of entertainment will benefit from this initiative."

Peter Mitchell, education director at education charity Edge, which is organising the new prize, adds: "We are very excited about the launch of the new Industry Insider Prize for this year's VQ Day. VQ Day celebrates practical and vocational learning and the many paths to success open to learners. The new prize will offer invaluable experience and help for one lucky individual."

For more information on how to nominate a student for the prize at this year's VQ Day on 23 June, visit www.vqday.org.
