LSIS announces 5 new board trustees

Wednesday, 09 May 2012 20:09

lsis-new
The Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) has unveiled the next five trustees who will join its 12-strong board for the coming four years.

The sector-led body appointed experts in sectors ranging from hospitality to the nuclear industry to replace its existing trustees after their terms expired.

Joining the group are:

  • Denise Brown-Sackey, principal of Newham College of Further Education

  • Ayub Khan, director of a shared service provision for six local authorities, and a non-executive director for YMCA England

  • Ricky McMenemy, managing director of London-based Rules restaurant

  • Sue Round, director of learning and development, employee engagement and talent at utility British Gas

  • Michael Smith, chief executive of Nucleus Training Limited, which combines the delivery skills of GEN II and the training facilities of the ENERGUS Academy

LSIS chair Dame Ruth Silver said: "I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new members to the LSIS board. We had a very strong field of candidates for these roles, and I am confident that we have a balanced, renewed and talented range of members with appointments based on skills and with experience from both inside and outside the sector, which will enable LSIS to capture the opportunities ahead.

"I look forward to working with our new members who will help us to drive forward our three priorities as stated in Refining our Strategy 2012 to 2015, which are: to drive forward outstanding teaching and learning; to forge excellent leadership and management; and to move with powerful intervention both to avoid and resolve cases of failure."

Natalie Thornhill
