New independent panel on adult vocational learning seeking commissioners

Tuesday, 06 March 2012 20:35

Form
The Learning and Skills Improvement Service is calling for applications for Commissioners from across the FE and Skills sectors to join the recently announced independent Commission on adult vocational pedagogy.

The Commission, which will be chaired by Frank McLoughlin CBE, principal of City and Islington College, was announced last December to improve adult vocational education. It has been tasked with setting out recommendations to ensure adult learners receive the highest standards of teaching and training.

“For the Commission to be a success it will need to draw on the experience and knowledge of colleagues from further education, industry, teacher training and professional associations," said McLoughlin.

"I look forward to working with an expert team of Commissioners who are as committed as I am to raising the status of adult vocational teaching and learning and promoting its status alongside the academic route as it deserves."

Successful Commissioners will be appointed from April 2012 until spring 2013, when the Commission's final findings and recommendations are due to be published. The posts are non-remunerated, although travel and agreed expenses will be reimbursed.

The closing date for applications is 26 March 2012. To find out more, click here.
