Skills at the top of political agenda, says AELP
There will be significant opportunities for training providers over the next five years as skills issues rise to the top of the political agenda, according to the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP).
With all the main political parties looking to boost the number of apprentices, AELP said training providers would have to deliver a 10% annual increase in Apprenticeship starts during the next Parliament.
However, as providers are forced to deliver more for less, the group called on the next government to simplify funding and contracting arrangements, and focus on longer term planning and commitments.
AELP CEO Stewart Segal said: “Despite the pressures on funding, AELP is confident that providers can and will deliver more, but ridding the system of some of its complexities would go a long way to making that happen.”
