The 157 Group launches 2010-11 impact review

Wednesday, 02 November 2011 21:49

157groupfinal
Marilyn Hawkins, new chair of the 157 Group and principal of Barnet College, launched the 157 Group's 2010-11 impact review along with a collection of eight learner voices at its annual reception.

The review focuses on the wide range of initiatives the 157 Group has led and has been involved with over past 12 months, and Adult literacy: the voice of learners in FE highlights the value of its member colleges' adult literacy work.

It comprises a collection of stories about eight adult learners' literacy journeys with a foreword by NIACE chief executive David Hughes and introduction by Hawkins.

Launching the publications, Hawkins said: "I am delighted as the new chair of 157 Group to highlight our successes for the last year, and to showcase the inspirational and influential work our colleges do as evidenced in the Adult literacy learner voices publication."

The event was attended by John Hayes, the Minister for Further Education, Skills and Lifelong Learning, and was hosted by Microsoft.

Lynne Sedgmore, executive director of the 157 Group, said: "We know that adult literacy is high on the government's agenda and is an issue which the Minster is particularly passionate about and we are delighted that John Hayes joined us to celebrate the achievements of the 157 Group."
