Poorest Areas Have Least Qualified Teachers Say Lib Dems

Children in the poorest areas of the country are least likely to be taught by well-qualified teachers, a Government survey published today has revealed.
Commenting, Liberal Democrat Shadow Children, Schools and Families Secretary, David Laws said:
"These deeply disturbing figures indicate that not only is there a need for more highly qualified teachers, but there is a particular shortage of the best qualified teachers in the toughest schools.
"It’s no wonder that many young people from deprived backgrounds struggle to do well when so many are taught by people who are not well qualified in the subject they are teaching."
