title=A giant sponge cake inspired by Alice in Wonderland was just one of the impressive works of art at ‘The Show 2009’ - Northampton College’s biggest ever student showcase enjoyed by almost two thousand people.

Over 300 students displayed their talents and end of term projects to members of the public during the two-day event held at The Deco, Northampton, 24 and 25 June, 10am-4pm.

Impressive cinematography, ceramics. fine art, graphics, textiles and photography projects, as well as performances from music and acting students, made up the event.

Geni Ebbetts, Programme Manager in Art & Design said, ‘The standard of work this year was incredible and incorporated all the art forms into one enormous exhibition – it was almost like a mini arts festival. Students worked very hard to get to a professional standard and host an exhibition which was enjoyed by members of the public, their family and friends.'

Matthew Essom, 17 from Spinney Hill showcased a giant seven foot self portrait which his Nan now intends to hang on her wall.

‘I’ve really enjoyed the event and had a really positive response to my work. The finished portrait only took me six days to complete in the end. Now my Nan’s asked if she can hang in her house but I’m not sure it will fit. I don’t think my Nan realises just how big it is.’

Two thousand people attended the show over the two days and at the special private viewing on 23 June.
