Gold for North West Regional College at CIPR awards

North West Regional College (NWRC) has been awarded a Gold award by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) at the 2017 PRide awards. At a special ceremony at the Culloden Hotel, NWRC’s Marketing and PR team won the top award in the category of Education Communications campaign, picking up the North West’s only Gold award of the night. The CIPR judging panel commended the College for their Start Here Go Anywhere campaign, describing it as “strong,  with clear measurable objectives, in-depth research and insight,  delivering a well thought through and highly successful campaign with the target audience at the heart of all activity. “ Principal and Chief Executive of North West Regional College Leo Murphy congratulated the Marketing and PR team for the award winning work they have carried out for the college. He said: “We are delighted to have achieved the Gold Award in the category of Education Communications Campaign. “Our Marketing and PR team have worked extremely hard in delivering a creative and vibrant campaign and I am delighted to see their creativity and originality recognised with such a prestigious award.”

First Northern Irish woman to summit Everest is the special guest at North West Regional College graduation ceremony

Renowned explorer and ultra athlete Hannah Shields, who became famous as the first woman in Northern Ireland to summit Mount Everest, will be the special guest at North West Regional College’s 2017 graduation ceremony  on Friday, October 27.

NWRC students shortlisted for Topcon Construction Award

Two students from North West Regional College (NWRC) have been shortlisted for the prestigious Plant and Civil Engineering Student Award. Stephen McElwee from the Foundation Degree in Sustainable Construction and Chanelle McCook from the Foundation Degree Civil Engineering, have made it into the final eight of the All Ireland award, sponsored by global giant, Topcon. The winner will be revealed at a gala dinner at the Crowne Plaza, Belfast on Thursday, November 23. John Logue, Curriculum Manager for the Built Environment at North West Regional College said: “During their time at NWRC Chanelle and Stephen excelled in their studies. “Chanelle came to NWRC knowing the career she wished to pursue, having firmly selected Level 3 Diploma studies in preference to ‘A’ levels. “Stephen returned to college having worked in the construction trades as a joiner, undertaking an Access Course leading to his Higher Education studies. “The success of both students underlines the ability of NWRC to accommodate those who wish to successfully pursue a career in the construction professions of Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Building Management.” The Topcon award is open to students working in a civil engineer environment or other associated activities within the construction sector. Each applicant had to demonstrate a high degree of dedication and commitment to their profession and industry with a clear focus on particular career path detailing their current and future goals.  

NWRC marketing shortlisted for top award

North West Regional College (NWRC) has been shortlisted for a Public Relations award at the 2017 CIPR Northern Ireland PRide Awards. The Marketing and PR team, who delivered the hugely successful Start Here Go Anywhere Campaign, are in the running for an award in the Education Communications Campaign category. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Culloden Hotel, Belfast on Friday, October 13. Marketing & PR Manager at NWRC Conor McGurgan congratulated the college on being shortlisted highlighting how the team implemented an invigorating communications campaign for 2016-2017. He said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted by the CIPR for this award.  Our Start Here Go Anywhere campaign resulted in record levels of media coverage, social media engagement, and attendance at College promotional events.  The campaign is testament to the high levels of skill and ability within the College Marketing & PR Team, and reflects the support it received from College staff, students and partners.” Mr. McGurgan said ‘Start Here Go Anywhere’ was designed to reflect the volume of career progression opportunities on offer to all those who choose the college and have succeeded from it. He continued: “We had a number of clear targets in delivering the campaign through our publications, social media platforms, events , outdoor branding and in our media relations. “As a result of these creative and innovative strategies the college enjoyed a number of hugely positive outcomes. “During the college’s three open days which took place across our campuses in Derry~Londonderry, Strabane and Limavady we enjoyed a record number of application for courses, more than a 50% increase on last year’s figures. “The college’s Facebook page was also ranked as Northern Ireland’s top FE College in terms of reach.”
