The future for corporate governance - shareholder...

    • This seminar will provide stakeholders with an opportunity to discuss the future of corporate governance in the UK. It is timed to facilitate engagement on policy priorities following the Corporate Governance Green Paper - which made recommendations on executive pay, worker and customer voice, and corporate governance in large private business - and also follows the final report of the Business, Energy and Select Committee’s inquiry into corporate governance, which has called for long term incentive bonuses to be abolished and for half of UK senior executives at listed companies to be women by 2020.

The conference is also timed to provide engagement on the Financial Reporting Council’s recently announced review of the UK Corporate Governance Code. Sessions will look at options for strengthening transparency, boardroom diversity and the role of directors, and will facilitate discussion on how forthcoming reforms can most effectively strengthen the existing corporate governance framework to promote corporate responsibility and reputation, while also providing business with the flexibility to meet long term challenges.

Speakers and other delegates at this conference are expected to be a senior and informed group of around 120 including Members of both Houses of Parliament, central government officials from BEIS, HMT and other relevant departments, as well as businesses, lawyers, trade unions, think tanks, charities, academics and consultants - as well as reporters from the national and trade press.
