How to to spot the signs of suicidal thoughts and provide support to affected learners and/employers

  • Overview

With one in four people experiencing a diagnosable mental health disorder each year, it is essential that organisations have a suicide prevention strategy in place. Suicide is not only an utterly tragic event for the person completing it, but research suggests that, for every death, between 15 and 30 other people are severely impacted.

Suicide is not predictable, but it IS preventable, and this session will look at some of the options that providers can take up to be able to spot someone in crisis, and to provide emergency assistance.

This webinar will look at this important area and will examine briefly:

    • the scale of the problem
    • reasons for suicide ideation and the risk factors to be aware of
    • three simple steps that can be taken when encountering someone in suicide crisis
    • training programmes for staff to better equip your organisation
    • good practice schemes from around the country, including DWP

    Who Should Attend?

Managers and leaders from the skills sector, HR professionals, suicide leads.
