SUMMARY:2026 DfE Apprenticeship Assurance Findings: Where Is Your Funding Risk?
DESCRIPTION:A free 45-minute briefing on the recently published DfE findings for the most recent round of assurance reviews (audits)\, which will help you to understand where your organisation may be exposed and where to focus compliance attention.\n\nThe Department for Education has published its latest annual findings from assurance reviews across post-16 funding. For apprenticeship providers\, the findings show that established compliance weaknesses remain\, alongside further areas of funding risk.\n\nThe findings continue to identify issues with pricing\, evidence of active learning\, eligibility\, learning dates\, initial assessment\, completion payments and co-investment. They also place greater emphasis on completion of the practical period\, Gateway controls and employer incentive payments.\n\nProviders therefore need to consider whether their main exposure sits in familiar areas they believe are controlled\, or in newer requirements that may not yet be fully embedded in systems and practice.\n\nIn this free 45-minute briefing\, apprenticeship funding and compliance specialist David Lockhart-Hawkins will interpret the annual findings and what they indicate about current provider risk. He will cover recurring and emerging themes\, their practical implications and the questions providers should ask about their controls\, evidence and assurance activity.\n\nThis is a focused briefing for leaders and compliance teams who need to test current assumptions and identify where closer scrutiny may be required.\n\nAttendees will leave with a clearer view of the findings\, the areas requiring attention and the next steps they can take to assess and manage their organisation’s exposure.\n\n \n\nCan’t make the date? Register anyway and we’ll send you the recording.\n\nAt the end of the session\, you will:\n\n Understand the main apprenticeship themes in the latest DfE assurance findings\n Distinguish between long-standing compliance weaknesses and areas receiving greater assurance attention\n Consider where your organisation may be exposed\n Identify questions that test whether current controls and evidence are working as intended\n Decide where further review\, professional development or implementation support may be needed\n\nDavid Lockhart-Hawkins\, SDN Mesma Group’s funding and compliance specialist will facilitate this webinar. After working in the sector for over 25 years\, David has supported hundreds of providers to establish effective compliance systems. His in-depth understanding of funding and wider apprenticeship delivery gives him a unique insight into compliance across the organisation.\n\nThis session is designed for senior leaders and managers responsible for apprenticeship compliance\, funding\, quality\, and operational delivery. It will also be valuable for finance\, MIS\, governance\, and board-level colleagues with oversight of apprenticeship risk\, assurance\, and regulatory compliance.
