From education to employment

Call for Traineeship support backbone

The Education and Training Foundation is calling for ideas to develop a support programme for providers as they begin to deliver Traineeships.

To be delivered in partnership with, as well as to, sector providers, the move aims to alleviate concerns over additional workforce development challenges brought on by the new scheme.

These include how to promote the benefits of Traineeships, provide robust initial assessment and information advice and guidance, and ways to boost its employability aspects with skills such as English and maths.

Jenny Williams, director of vocational education and training at the Education and Training Foundation, said some providers have highlighted these areas as an urgent need.

She said: “We must make sure that we respond to what providers have told us; about the support they want to ensure the success of the traineeship programme.”
