From education to employment

MoD sees potential in apprentices

The Ministry of Defence is teaming up with South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (SGS) to offer 15 Apprenticeship vacancies in Bristol.

The defence organisation has previously only recruited graduates for these vacancies. But, having seen potential in previous apprentices, this time around it is opening up the positions to GCSE-level applicants.

Anita Al-Zamily, business executive for employer engagement at SGS, said: “South Gloucestershire and Stroud College has worked with the MoD Abbeywood for a number of years providing work based training and qualifications for their employees within purchasing and supply.

“We are now delighted to be able to extend this offer to an apprenticeship programme. This really is an amazing opportunity for 15 people, paying significantly above the National Minimum Wage for apprentices.”
