The Next Normal Episode 8 – The Student and Graduate Job Podcast

Join Chris Webb (@WorldWebb) and Helen Armitage (@HelenArmitage16) from the Careers and Employability Service at Sheffield Hallam University (@SheffHallamUni) for another foray into the world of work, as told by Covid-19. 

This week, we welcome James Curran, Career Coach and Host of the Graduate Job Podcast and Phill Williams, Careers Consultant at the University of Birmingham, to the (virtual) booth, where we discuss what careers professionals have been doing to adapt the support they have been providing since March, how students and graduates can combat negativity in the media and the importance of embracing non-linear career pathways in the current climate.

Our Presenters:

Helen Armitage – A Senior Employability Adviser for the College of Social Sciences and Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. Helen leads on the Hallam Career Mentoring Scheme and primarily supports the department of Art and Design with in-curriculum careers delivery.

Chris Webb – An Employability Adviser at Sheffield Hallam University, Chris supports the Gradvantage programme for final year students and graduates, as well as collaborating with the College of Business, Technology and Engineering on in-curriculum careers delivery.

Our Guests:

James Curran – James is a Career Coach who works regularly with students and graduates across the UK, as well as being the creator and host of the long-running Graduate Job Podcast, which has a wide range of episodes featuring employers, recruiters and career professionals on all aspects of the student and graduate recruitment and application process.

Phill Williams – Phill is a Careers Consultant for the College of Life & Environmental Sciences at the University of Birmingham. Prior to the University of Birmingham, Phill worked at the University of Leicester, in a number of roles, including as a Careers Consultant, Employer Relationships Project Officer, and finally as a Project Manager overseeing support for Finalists and Graduates.
