Go the distance podcast - Careers in the Community and Voluntary Sector

This is the latest podcast from @NCFE’s Go the Distance series – tackling the big issues when it comes to taking action on unemployment in the current economic climate.

Following a recent NCFE blog on careers in the community and voluntary sector, a panel of experts discuss this topic and provide advice to employment specialists and job seekers about how to develop the sought-after skills needed to find and thrive in roles in this rewarding sector.

Michael Lemin (Head of Policy at NCFE) is joined by Jayne Graham MBE (Executive Director at Society Matters cic), Rebecca Cooney (Senior Analysis and Features Writer at Third Sector), Glen Manners (Associate Director – Membership and Education at Charity People) and Stuart Campbell (Employability Manager at Home Group) to discuss the misconceptions about the sector, and the range of opportunities, including voluntary roles, and identifying and developing transferable skills to help jobseekers thrive.

Go the distance is an ongoing initiative launched to take action on UK unemployment as a result of the ongoing effects of the pandemic. Together with education and employment specialists, NCFE has committed its expertise to help job seekers develop skills, knowledge, and behaviours that people need to find, stay and progress in work.
