We catch up with David Harbourne, director of policy and research at the Edge Foundation, at the Apprenticeships 4 England conference to discuss FE policy.

One of Harbourne's big concerns about Apprenticeships policy is it how it fits together with all of the other strands of government rulemaking, taking into account Apprenticeships reforms, Careers Information and Guidance, school EBacc subject strategy, Area Reviews, and now Lord Sainsbury's routes from school to work.

He explains that there is just too much uncertainty in the sector regarding FE policy for colleges, training providers, parents, young people and schools, and this needs to become clear quickly to be able to plan and understand what the system will look like in the next 10-15 years.
