Are you passionate about supporting students with learning difficulties and disabilities? Do you have experience in working with young people in an educational setting? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Learning Support Assistant at Lewisham College.

Lewisham College is a vibrant and inclusive further education college that offers a wide range of courses and qualifications for learners of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis, working 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday) for the next 6 months. You will be earning £13 per hour, plus holiday pay and pension contributions.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing one-to-one or small group support to students with learning difficulties and disabilities, such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD, or physical impairments. You will help them to access the curriculum, develop their skills, and achieve their potential. You will also liaise with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for the students.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

– A relevant qualification in learning support, such as a Level 2 or 3 Certificate or Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent
– Experience in working with students with learning difficulties and disabilities in an educational setting, preferably in further education
– A good understanding of the needs and challenges of learners with learning difficulties and disabilities, and the ability to adapt your approach accordingly
– Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
– A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude
– A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
– An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one
