We provide membership, assurance and skills solutions to help employers attract, develop and retain a sustainable, skilled workforce to ensure the seamless delivery of essential services to 65 million people each day and UK Industry.
Our UK-wide membership is comprised of the major infrastructure companies within water, power, gas and waste management and their top tiers of delivery partners. Our membership brings companies together to collectively identify and address the unique workforce renewal and skills challenges the sector faces, while engaging governments, regulators and other senior stakeholders to help them develop an informed and supportive policy and regulatory environment.
Our mission is to make excellence the standard through trusted partnerships. We do this by working together, being credible and making a positive difference.
The Energy & Utility Skills Group has been the driving force behind the creation of the Energy & Utilities Skills Partnership. In February 2017, in partnership with 28 Chief Executives from energy and utility-based employers, we launched the first-ever Energy & Utilities Workforce Renewal Strategy, which called for collective action to ensure that we have a sustainable skilled workforce now and in the future.
We are the provider of choice for employer solutions and registering and assessing competency standards within the energy, gas, waste management and water networks industries. We offer guidance as well as bespoke consultancy to our members.

The energy and utilities sector today [23 June] marked International Women in Engineering Day with a series of case studies highlighting engineering heroes in the sector, and a call for more women to join them.

The Government’s national infrastructure strategy aims to connect 85% of the UK with ultrafast gigabit broadband by 2025, with £1.2bn allocated to the rollout of full-fibre broadband over the next four years. The majority of the population are also due to have access to a 5G signal within 6 years. The fibreoptic industry is crucial to these plans. In recognition of this, the FIA and Energy & Utility Skills have partnered to help ensure the current and future workforce have the skills required to meet these challenges.
