#EYPEN - Change the Story
I often sit with a book or an academic journal and never start at the first page. I flip through the pages and start searching for a word to add to my vocabulary, then much to the authors horror I imagine, I highlight paragraphs, bend pages over at the corners, stick post it notes in colour order of priority reading, editing as I go along transferring key words into my inspirational journal.
Reflecting in and on action and an academic year like no other as educators, we are all beginning to return to a new intake of learners, adapting our pedagogical approaches and adjusting to changes in our environments.
As partners in all things research, Kerry Scattergood and I first met and connected through our roles on the Society of Education Practitioner Advisory Group and have since gone on to collaborate and grow the West Midlands #FEResearchMeet which takes place twice a year January and June, but who knew that Kerry would have to organise her Summer research meet during a lockdown.
The professional roles within the field of the Children, Young People and Families landscape have witnessed a huge change over the years, including the variety of qualifications now on offer and the wide range of roles within the workforce.
Welcome to my ideal garden, one where there is a winding path that has wild, fragrant flowers either side of it and the path leads to a tranquil, sunny spot for you to read and relax. This ideal garden is not my garden, and not representative of my professional career or my role as a mother, but what this garden does have, is flowers that are unique, much like the many children and adults I have taught and my own two children.
