East Durham College operates across three campuses and many local community venues, as well as providing work force development within individual work places across the region.
In Peterlee, the College re-located in 2009 into an exciting £36 million new build development. Needless to say, the complex is one of the most modern educational facilities in the region and one which staff, students and the public at large are justifiably proud of.
Along with its specially designed state-of-the-art classrooms and work areas, the College also showcases a 500 seat sports arena and the area's only dedicated specialist theatre.
The College's Houghall Campus is located on the outskirts of Durham City centre. The Campus has an excellent reputation for a range of land based studies and is highly regarded amongst those within land based industries. The campus has excellent facilities including an arboretum, pinetum, working farm, stables and a specialist small animal care unit, all set amongst stunning grounds and countryside. These coupled with outstanding lecturers who share a passion for the outdoors, students with an interest in land based studies can be assured they have come to the right place.
2010 saw the opening of The Technical Academy on Peterlee's South West Industrial. The Academy was established by East Durham College with the aim of re-creating a professional, construction and engineering-based working environment where learners could receive the latest training in trade areas that the industry needs. The Academy is located in about 37,000 sq. ft. of space with a vast workshop area, classroom and IT suite and specialise in trades such as welding, engineering, wall & floor tiling, electric and gas installation.
