From education to employment

REC’s Kevin Green chats about employer engagement & how providers & colleges can help the REC awarding body

We talk to Kevin Green, CEO of the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) about engaging employers in Apprenticeship programmes. REC is the professional body for the Recruitment and Staffing industry.

One of the biggest challenges with the Apprenticeship programme is how to get employers engaged, according to Green, with only 15% of employers  currently using Apprenticeships. He outlines how the more employers will be paying into the new Apprenticehsip Levy, the more will be looking for a return on this investment.

Green also discusses how training providers and colleges can help REC with their huge growth plans. The recruitment sector is undergoing a huge amount of growth after growing by £4.5 billion in the past 4.5 years, with a forecasted growth of 22% in the next 3 years. With 22,000 new people needed to join the recruitment sector there is a huge opportunity for training providers and colleges to help REC.

REC already has 600 level 2, 3 and 4 learners after only starting 2.5 years ago, but plans to double the number in the next year. According to Green, REC is very keen to talk with any training provider or college that is interested in helping them grow the number of learners in specialist recruitment training and development.
