Cambridge Regional College student commended in national BTEC awards

A student who combines his studies with membership of the elite Royal Marines Commando Reserve has been commended in the national BTEC Awards for Outstanding Public Services Student of the Year.

Kieran Moore, 19, a Uniformed Public Services student at Cambridge Regional College, was praised for his “truly outstanding” work, his dedication and his inspiration to others.

The A-star student, who was nominated by his lecturer for his exceptional academic work and outstanding assignments – among the best in the college – was chosen from hundreds of students to reach the final judging panel of the competition, one of the biggest student awards in the country.

Kieran said he was honoured to be commended in the awards.

“It is a great privilege to have got so far towards the final of this award and the credit should go to the Uniformed Services department at CRC. It is only with their guidance and support that I have been able to thrive whilst at the college and feel that it has been a perfect gateway to my future career aspirations,” he said.

Kieran’s lecturer Peter Hockey said he was an inspirational student who led by example.

“We’re absolutely delighted that Kieran has been commended in the BTEC awards. He is a dedicated student and an inspiration to others, as well as a leader and mentor to fellow students and members of our Army cadet force,” he said.

“He is always the first to volunteer and has represented the college superbly on numerous occasions, producing exceptional work inside the college and during his gruelling training as a commando reservist.”
