UK Quality Mark for Preston’s College

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed the quality and standards of provision at Preston’s College (the College) following its review in April 2016.

A team of QAA reviewers visited the College and judged that its academic standards, the quality and enhancement of its student learning opportunities, and the quality of information about its learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

The review made some recommendations for improvements, for example:

  • to ensure information provided to students about assessment results is communicated appropriately

  • design and implement an effective approach to the management of placement learning opportunities to provide for strategic oversight and consistent practice.

Dr Lis Smith, Principal and Chief Executive at Preston’s College, added: ‘As a College we are delighted with the outcome of the QAA review and its recognition of the quality of our Higher Education provision, and the fantastic experience our learners receive. We are particularly pleased to receive this judgement at this time as we strive to widen our higher skills’ offer to support making Preston’s College learners the most employable.’

QAA’s Higher Education Reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges. Every review team includes a student reviewer, because QAA believes that students should be partners in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed Preston’s College comprised Sally Dixon (The Manchester College), Chris McIntyre (University of Hertfordshire) and Sarah d’Ambrumenil (student reviewer, Cardiff University).

A successful review means that the College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that the College meets national requirements for standards and quality.
