From education to employment

UK Quality Mark for Hull College Group

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed the quality and standards of provision at Hull College Group (the College) following its review in May 2016.

A team of QAA reviewers visited the College and judged that the quality of information about its learning opportunities meets UK expectations and the enhancement of its student learning opportunities is commended.

The review identifies a number of features of good practice at the College, including:

  • the comprehensive partnership working with students which enhances the student learning experience

  • the involvement of staff in research and scholarly activity which contributes to an enhanced student learning environment

  • the range of opportunities, locally and nationally, available to students which increases their employability.

Hull College Group Chief Executive, Gary Warke, said: ‘Hull College Group is delighted by the positive outcome to our recent QAA Higher Education Review.  We are especially pleased that the excellent work the Group does on two of our key themes – providing a positive, supportive learning environment for students and ensuring good employability outcomes for graduates – were fully recognised by the reviewers.

‘Following the grant of foundation degree awarding powers in January, our Higher Education Review confirms the high standard of the degrees, foundation degrees and other HE programmes delivered at Hull College Group.’

QAA’s Higher Education Reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges. Every review team includes a student reviewer, because QAA believes that students should be partners in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed Hull College Group comprised Patricia Millner (independent reviewer) and Scott Thomas(student reviewer, University of Newcastle upon Tyne).

A successful review means that the College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that the College meets national requirements for standards and quality.
