From education to employment

IMI and Automechanika announce Global Skills Partnership

The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has confirmed it will be working together to achieve a joint partnership with the world’s leading trade event organiser, Messe Frankfurt, whose global events are dedicated to improving the automotive supply chain and aftermarket.

Bringing together thousands of automotive supply and aftermarket companies on an international platform, the IMI will be partnering with Automechanika as their ‘Global Skills Partner’ to raise awareness of the importance of vocational skills and training across the automotive sector.

With a well-documented skills shortage worldwide; Automechanika and the IMI will be working together as a powerful influence to increase the awareness amongst employers and national decision makers on the need for more skilled people and higher professional standards.

The new partnership between the world’s largest automotive industry event organisation and the only automotive dedicated international awarding body will complement Automechanika’s mission by providing informative seminar sessions with the opportunity to share and develop world-class skills and training across the globe.

Herbert Lonsdale, IMI’s International Manager, said:

“Automechanika has always sought to bring innovative and important topics of interest to all its visitors throughout their events. This partnership with the IMI further underlines both organisation’s commitment to best practice and skills development throughout the international automotive supply chain and aftermarket by increasing vocational training, as well as recognising the talent and skills already working within the sector.”

Michael Johannes, Automechanika Brand Manager:

“As in the case of Automechanika Frankfurt, we aim to integrate the vital subject of basic and advance professional development into our events outside Germany – events that are held in 14 different countries and attract over 500,000 visitors from all over the world. With the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), we have found a highly experienced partner that will enable us to forge ahead with our plans for this very important subject.”

Automechanika is continuing to expand their core events worldwide and already organises trade fairs in 40 locations across five continents. These include Frankfurt, Dubai, Shanghai, New Delhi, Chicago, Johannesburg and United Kingdom.
