From education to employment

Waltham Forest College Higher Education Fair 2016

Nearly 300 students from both full-time and part-time coursesattended this year’s Higher EducationFair, organised by the Careers Team at Waltham Forest College.

Students had the opportunity to meet with University reps from all over London, including King’s College London, Anglia Ruskin University, University of Westminster, Brunel University, and many more.

Students also participated in workshops, which provided them with the right advice and guidance on their next steps, progression routes, apprenticeships, volunteering opportunities and student finance.

Representatives from ‘Inspiring the Future’ – Education and Employers Taskforce, were also in attendance to help connect students with employers with the aim of providing them with the inspiration, motivation, knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to help them achieve their potential.

Outreach Officers, Marc Rotheroe from Anglia Ruskin University, and Sonia Sakaria from Greenwich School of Management (GSM) London, were among speakers who delivered an informative presentation in the College’s lecture theatre on ‘personal statements’.

Vanessa Caines, Information Advice and GuidanceTeam Leader, said: “Our aim is to support our students with their career aspirations and long-term goals, and to prepare them for university and/or employment. The HE Fair helps us to do just that.”
