IMI RECRUITS DVSA EXPERT TO GUARANTEE GOLD STANDARD TO MOT TRAINING

The motor industry’s awarding body, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), guarantees quality training after enlisting expertise from DVSA’s MOT specialist, David Easton.

After announcing changes to the training for MOT Testers and Managers earlier this year, the IMI in conjunction with the DVSA, is the only awarding body currently offering the full suite of new MOT training (classes 1 and 2 Motorcycle, and 4 and 7 Light Vehicle).

The IMI developed a training package that enables all Testers to complete the new annual assessment and training via an eLearning platform with the confidence they’ll receive the best quality motor training available. In order to provide technicians with a first-class service and support the IMI has expanded their customer-care department to meet the high levels of enquiries surrounding the new training.

David Easton, MOT specialist, said: “I think this is a really exciting time for the MOT industry. For the first time since the MOT Scheme began back in the 1960’s MOT Testers and Managers now have their own set of National Occupational Standards and proper regulated qualifications.

“MOT Testers and Managers deserve to be recognised for the professionals that they are, and there is a real opportunity here for the IMI, which is already a big brand with a big reputation within the industry, to showcase its MOT products and approved centres.

The IMI are absolutely committed to ensuring that their centres aren’t just the best but are recognised industry-wide as being centres of excellence. The first and only choice when it comes to MOT Training.”

Steve Scofield, Head of Business Development at the IMI, said: “Having David join our team demonstrates the IMI’s ongoing commitment to providing the very best training to individuals working in the sector. It will ensure the IMI continue to provide quality and confidence to all of the Testers and Managers completing the new qualifications, in both the annual training and assessment.”

Over the coming months Dave’s knowledge and expertise will ensure that our centers are delivering the very best MOT training.
