BMet principal does apprentice recruitment advisor job swap

BMet’s principal has given his full support to National Apprenticeship Week by interviewing candidates.

The college is currently recruiting 25 apprentice white goods engineers for KnowHow, the after sales support service for Currys PC World. As part of the selection and recruitment process for the 613 applicants, Andrew Cleaves conducted telephone interviews with some of the individuals that had applied for positions.

“I very much enjoyed talking to the applicants,” said Andrew. “They were all incredibly positive about what an Apprenticeship involves and how they thought it would give them a valuable career start. The theme of this year’s National Apprenticeship Week is ‘ladder of opportunity’, so I find it encouraging to see so many individuals eager to put themselves forward for these roles and who are willing to invest in their careers.”

Following the telephone interviews, 70 applicants will be invited to attend sessions at assessment centres before up to 25 applicants are offered Apprenticeships. Vacancies are available in Bristol, Cardiff, Dartford, Durham, Glasgow, Leeds and Newark.

Phillip Knowles, Operations Manager for KnowHow home services added: “BMet has been training our apprentice engineers since 2010, during which time we have seen hundreds of individuals grow and develop as professionals.

“The fact that Andrew was speaking to prospective apprentices as both a training provider and an apprentice employer means he will have some excellent insights to share as we continue to recruit candidates who will thrive as apprentices.”

National Apprenticeship Week takes place from 6-12 March and celebrates the positive impact Apprenticeships and traineeships have on individuals, businesses and the economy.
