IMI Scores a Hat Trick on new Apprentice Register

With 53% of new apprenticeship standards still without an approved assessment organisation, IMI receives SFA approval for three new standards.

The IMI continues to lead the way in supporting the automotive sector, as the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) confirms the register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations that have been successful in becoming an independent end-point assessment of apprentices.

“Recent government changes to apprenticeships have given employers of apprentices the power to choose who they want to conduct independent end-point assessments of their apprentices”, explained Mark Armitage, Senior Apprenticeship Manager of the IMI.  “But, to date, 53% of new apprenticeship standards are still without an approved assessment organisation. It should, therefore, be welcome news for employers in the automotive sector that the IMI has received SFA approval for three new standards.”

The IMI has received SFA approval for the following standards: 

• Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

• Heavy Vehicle and Maintenance Technician

• Bus and Coach Engineering Technician

The register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations is the SFA’s only market entry point for organisations that intend to deliver end-point assessments ahead of the switchover from Frameworks to Standards.
