Foundation Degree students in a range of creative disciplines from Cardiff and Vale College have organised their own exhibition – Bay Creative – at art venue Craft in the Bay.

The exhibition in Cardiff Bay features work in ceramics, textiles, graphic design, product design and fashion styling and will run until 11th June. The students are marketing and running the exhibition themselves and many of the works on display are for sale.

“The first year Foundation Degree students have been set a live brief by Craft in the Bay manager Simon Burgess,” CAVC Foundation Degree in Ceramics Course Director Billy Adams said. “This will give them real life experience of working in a gallery and organising an exhibition.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for the students – they are their work exhibited in a professional gallery and their work will be assessed by Simon.”

Craft in the bay General Manager Simon Burgess said: “Having the opportunity to set a live project to be exhibited in our gallery in collaboration with their tutor Billy Adams and to be part of the students’ early development is both rewarding and a privilege. We are always more than happy to exhibit work by students of Cardiff and vale College and this year is no exception with a high standard of work by the first years on this specific project being evident through the pieces on display.”

Bay Creative will run at Craft in the Bay, The Flourish, Lloyd George Avenue until 11th June.
