Outstanding staff recognised at annual awards ceremony

Stafford College held its annual staff awards celebration on 4th July where a number awards were made to recognise outstanding staff contributions and achievements.

The awards ceremony, attended by governors, senior managers and staff, was the first official staff awards ceremony held at the College since the merger with Newcastle-under-Lyme College in November 2016. The event saw a range of awards presented, including Lecturer of the Year, Assessor of the Year, Support Staff Member of the Year, along with a special Senior Management Team award.

Guests were treated to a musical performance from foundation studies students Joe Dunham and Adam Smith and a dance routine from Angelo Dellicompagni before the awards were formally presented by Karen Dobson, Principal and Chief Executive of Stafford College supported by Governor, Syd Birkin.

Sport Lecturer, Vinnie Fullegario picked up the award for Lecturer of the Year and Deborah Evans was awarded the title Assessor of the Year.

The closely contested Outstanding Contribution – Support Staff Member and Outstanding Contribution – Manager categories were won by Jeff Clarke from the Stafford College estates team, for the positive impact he has on the college community and Gill Moss, Assistant Director of Professional Studies, for her unwavering commitment to young people and adult education.

In a dedicated category to reward long-serving staff members, Library Resources Manager, Pamela Hanney was recognised for her helpful, cheerful manner, her willingness to embrace change within the library setting and ensuring that the library always remains a haven for learning.

Principal & Chief Executive, Karen Dobson said: “We have a staff team who are highly dedicated and committed to making a difference to the lives of our learners and our wider community. The annual staff awards event is our way of formally thanking all staff for their commitment, whilst recognising and rewarding a number of highly dedicated, hard-working individuals who have really excelled in their respective roles.”

Special Senior Management Team Special Award – Estates Team

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group:  Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) was established on 1 November 2016 following a merger between Newcastle-under-Lyme College (NULC) and Stafford College.

Working in partnership with local authorities, schools, universities, employers, and the Stoke on Trent and Staffordshire LEP, NSCG will seek to provide the education and opportunities which the local economy requires. The merged group will be responsive to country-wide ambitions for economic growth and will deliver a high quality, financially stable, broad-based curriculum.

Stafford College: Stafford College is a general further education college based in the county town of Stafford. The college community has a thriving student population who have the opportunity to study from entry level 2 to level 6 courses in a wide range of academic and vocational subjects as well as offering apprenticeships, higher education and community courses.
