Latest FE Jobs:

    The Department for Education and the Education and Skills Funding Agency have provided a National Statistics Office update to their Further Education and Skills statistical data today about learner participation, outcomes and highest qualification held in further education and skills, reported for July 2017.

    All age government funded apprenticeship participation reported so far in the 2016/17 academic year is greater than that reported at the same point in 2015/16. Participation in government funded adult (19+) further education reported so far in 2016/17 is less than that reported at this time in 2015/16, and has continued to fall in final year figures from its 2011/12 peak.

    There has been a 53.1% increase in higher level apprenticeships with an increase to 58,200 in 2016/17, compared to 38,000 in 2015/16.

    Summary and key headlines – 2016/17 (data reported so far) :

    Adult (19+) further education and skills Data reported so far in the first three quarters of the 2016/17 academic year show there were 1,966,500 learners aged 19 and over participating in government-funded adult further education, compared to 2,032,500 at this time in 2015/16, a decrease of 3.2%.  

     

    Apprenticeship participation

    879,500 participants on an Apprenticeship have been reported so far in 2016/17, compared to 814,400 at this time in 2015/16, an increase of 8%.

     

    Apprenticeship starts

    440,300 Apprenticeship starts have been reported so far in 2016/17, compared to 384,500 at this time in 2015/16, an increase of 14.5%.

    There have now been 1,065,000 apprenticeship starts reported to April 2017 since May 2015 and 3,442,500 starts reported to April 2017 since May 2010.

     

    English and maths 

    715,600 adult learners have been reported as participating on English and maths courses so far in 2016/17, compared to 736,100 at this time in 2015/16, a decrease of 2.8%.

     

    Advanced learner loans

    108,400 learners have been reported with a 19+ advanced learner loan so far in 2016/17.

     

    Traineeships  

    17,000 traineeship starts have been reported so far in 2016/17, compared to 19,400 at this time in 2015/16, a decrease of 12.4%.

     

    Community learning 

    430,500 adult learners have been reported as participating on a community learning course so far in 2016/17, compared to 465,600 at this time in 2015/16, a decrease of 7.5%.

     

    Offender learning

    73,500 offenders aged 18 or over in the prison system have been reported as participating in learning so far in 2016/17, compared to 79,800 at this time in 2015/16, a decrease of 7.9%.
