As part of its campaign to encourage more young people to become apprentices, a Birmingham training provider has recognised a top employer form the hospitality sector.

The Hilton Metropole won the Best Apprentice Employer category at the Midlands Food and Drink and Hospitality 2017 awards.

Pathway Group sponsored the award – one of 34 presented at a gala evening at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.

The Pathway Group is championing the employment of apprentices and founded the Asian Apprenticeship Awards that were held for the first time last November.

Work is now going full steam ahead for the second Asian Apprenticeship Awards that will also be at Edgbaston on Thursday, November 2.

“Having good apprentices will be vital to the future economic prosperity of our country,” said Safaraz Ali, Managing Director of The Pathway Group.

“More people, especially from the Asian Community, are needed to take the opportunity of taking up apprentices and thereby having the wonderful opportunity to earn as they learn.

“Well done the Hilton Metropole and other employers who recognise the benefits that employing and training apprentices can bring to a business.”

Having sponsored an award, the Pathway Group was shortlisted at the Education Awards, also at Edgbaston, for the Proactive educational provider of an apprenticeship programme. This accolade acknowledges and celebrated exceptional contributions to an apprenticeship programme.

It was one of 16 awards presented at the inaugural Educational Awards in association with Birmingham City University.
