From education to employment

STUDENTS FLYING HIGH AFTER COURSE SUCCESS

Students from City of Wolverhampton College are flying high after completing their courses with flying colours.

Students on both the Level 2 and Level 3 Travel and Tourism courses, based at the college’s Wellington Road Campus, secured a clean sweep, with a 100% pass rate.

The hardworking youngsters are now looking forward to next year, with the majority of second year students moving on to university to study International Tourism Management and others packing their suitcases after securing their first jobs in the industry.

Kelly Bilboe, who was named Student of the Year, said: “I’ve loved the college and without the tutors I wouldn’t have got the grades I did.”

Lecturer Helen Spiteri said she was delighted with this year’s results. She added: “Since 2010 tourism has been the fastest growing sector in the UK in employment terms. Britain is forecast to have a tourism industry worth over £257 billion by 2025 and currently, 9.6% of all UK jobs are in the tourism sector.

“I am very proud of how hard the students have worked this year to achieve their qualification which will help them progress into an industry that continues to grow.”

The college is now accepting applications for travel courses starting in September. For more information ring 01902 836000.
