Cardiff Blues, Wales and British and Irish Lions International rugby star Gethin Jenkins has put his name to the high performance gym at Cardiff and Vale College – the training ground for the next generation of rugby talent.

The Gethin Jenkins High Performance Gym at CAVC’s City Centre Campus is a strength and conditioning gym with the very latest elite training facilities. The gym is used by the college’s sports academies, including the Rugby Academy, which aim to boost and develop both sporting and academic ability.

“Cardiff and Vale College is a big support of the Blues and of sport across the region,” Gethin said. “I am honoured that the College has put my name above the gym door – a lot of youngsters are going to go through those doors and hopefully some of them will have a bright future ahead of them in sport.

“The facilities in the gym are great; they are going to give the students a health boost and the chance to improve. The equipment will help them train and give them the ability to really focus when they are playing rugby for the College.”

CAVC Director of Rugby Martyn Fowler said: “We are delighted to be able name our strength and conditioning gym the Gethin Jenkins High Performance Gym. The more exposure our learners get to athletes of Gethin’s level the better their learning curve is.

“Gethin is a consummate professional and any advice he offers referencing his rugby journey is soaked up like a sponge by our Rugby Academy members.”
