From education to employment

CITY OF WOLVERHAMPTON COLLEGE SCOOPS NATIONAL CAREERS AWARD

City of Wolverhampton College has scooped a prestigious national award for the high standard of careers advice and guidance it provides to its students.

The college won the Careers Education and Guidance Award, sponsored by the Careers and Enterprise Company, at the annual Association of Colleges Beacon Awards ceremony.

The awards celebrate the best and most innovative practice among UK further education and sixth form colleges.

Andrea Dill-Russell, the college’s assistant principal for student services, said: “The college’s career advisors work with students at all levels and give impartial advice on learning opportunities, occupations and career development, as well as the best routes into their chosen career, be it a college course, higher education qualification, becoming an apprentice or moving straight into employment.

“We are delighted to have won the award which, coming hot on the heels of being named top in the Midlands for employer satisfaction in October and student satisfaction in July, demonstrates once again how the college is ensuring the workforce of the future is equipped with the skills needed to meet employers’ requirements.”

The awards ceremony took place at ICC in Birmingham last week.
