Bracknell & Wokingham College to join forces with Activate Learning

Activate Learning and Bracknell & Wokingham College have decided to join forces in a merger that will see great benefit delivered to the communities of Bracknell, Wokingham, Reading and surrounding areas.

Bracknell & Wokingham College will join with Reading College, City of Oxford College and Banbury and Bicester College within Activate Learning from August 2018 subject to a programme of public consultation and due diligence.

David Cook, chairman of governors at Bracknell & Wokingham College, said:

ā€œWorking together Activate Learning and Bracknell & Wokingham College will see great benefit delivered to the communities of Bracknell, Wokingham, Reading and surrounding areas. Our target date is 1 August 2018 – the start of the new academic and funding year for further education colleges. There is much to be done before the benefits of the merged institution can start to be delivered, including public consultation and due diligence”.

Chris Jones, chairman of governors at Activate Learning, said:

ā€œThis is great news for our learners, staff, businesses and local communities in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Working together we will give our learners a wider range of career pathways, give local businesses greater access to talent, provide greater opportunities for our staff and build a group of colleges that are stronger together and even greater assets to our communities.ā€

Activate Learning and Bracknell & Wokingham College will be publishing a joint public consultation document in January to outline the benefits that a merger will bring to individuals, businesses and local communities and ask the public to have their say.
