From education to employment

Council Modern Apprentice reporting for business

Scottish Borders Council employee Alistair Colville recently completed his Business and Administration Modern Apprenticeship through Borders College with the support of his employer.

Joining the Council as an apprentice in June 2016, Alistair began the Business and Administration MA in November that year, successfully completing it within 10 months.

As a member of the Corporate Performance Team who monitor and report on the Council’s performance on a daily, monthly, quarterly and annual basis, Alistair’s role was very much based around analysing information and numbers.  He used a bespoke online system to update reports on a daily basis as well as working with employees across all of the departments within the Council.

His Assessor, Pippa Bell, said:

“Alistair was a well organised and motivated individual who found learning by doing the best way of gaining the qualifications that he required to further his career.  Alistair was a pleasure to work with and really excelled in providing quality evidence towards his MA.”

Alistair thoroughly enjoyed the MA process and said the most rewarding part was gaining a qualification which has led to permanent employment with the Council.
