Bekim was shortlisted for four awards including: the gold award, sports award, overcoming adversity and inspiration award and learning and development award. Bader and Nooraldeen were shortlisted for the progress and learning award as well as the learning and development award respectively.

The Tameside LAC Awards hosted at the Village Hotel Ashton and attended by Executive Leader of Tameside Council, Brenda Warrington, celebrates the achievements of local children and young people who are in care or foster care. The awards cover education, arts, sport and personal achievement.

Miriam Nicola, progress and welfare adviser at Tameside College who nominated the three students, was pleased to see them recognised:

“All three are fantastic students with 100% attendance and punctuality. They always get involved with college activities, are never negative and put all their efforts into college life. They have overcome so many barriers to get to where they are today and I am extremely happy to see them rewarded for this.”
