From education to employment

MP Matt Western visits Warwick Trident College during Apprenticeship week

As part of national campaign for Apprenticeship Week, MP for Leamington and Warwick, Matt Western, visited Warwick Trident College on Thursday 8th March to see how WCG is training the skilled employees our region needs.

Mr Western was welcomed by Alan May, Director of Engineering Apprenticeships and JLR Programmes, and toured the college’s state-of-the-art engineering and automotive facilities. During the visit he met with a group of Year 2 Engineering apprentices who study and train at WCG alongside their employment locally.

MP for Leamington and Warwick, Matt Western, who once attended WCG said:

“It has been a pleasure to meet and speak to some wonderful apprentices today, who have given me an insight into their journey to securing highly skilled jobs within the engineering and motor industry.

“I have been extremely encouraged by the work Warwick Trident College and WCG are doing to ensure young people are getting the highest quality education and training experience.”

Director of Engineering Apprenticeships and JLR Programmes, Alan May said:

“It was a pleasure to welcome Matt to Warwick Trident College today, to showcase some of the work we are doing.

“Our aim is to equip our apprentices with the skills and knowledge they need through the use of our high-tech facilities and experienced staff to help them succeed across a range of jobs and industries.”

Apprenticeships provide a great way to combine study with work, enabling young people to earn a wage whilst also taking a nationally recognised qualification, and are becoming a popular alternative to traditional full time course and university.

WCG is the largest college provider of apprenticeships in the West Midlands, providing award winning training programmes for more than 30 industry sectors, and has around 2500 apprentices training across its seven colleges each year.

WCG offers a range of full-time courses in a wide variety of subjects. For more information, call 0300 456 0049.
