From education to employment

£1000 additional funding towards education costs to be won.

Today sees the launch of a new competition, open to all students studying in the UK, offering the chance to win £1000 additional funding for next term, plus a way to earn extra money towards your university costs, without needing a part time job.

With 62% of students saying that the money they receive from student finance is not enough to cover their costs, falling short by an average £170 per week*, an extra £1000 in the pot could make the difference between struggling from week to week and not having to worry about money.

The competition is being offered by Funds4Uni, a fundraising scheme run by The Scholarship Hub, in partnership with easyfundraising, which helps students to raise extra money for their education. Students set themselves up as a “good cause” via Funds4Uni and then invite friends and family to support their cause. Students and their supporters will generate free donations from over 3,300 retailers when they shop online and could raise an additional £860** a year doing their normal shopping .

6th form student Adam Kerr registered with fundraising website easyfundraising through the Funds4Uni scheme just 5 months ago and is already seeing the benefits, having raised over £300 so far.

Adam says: “My mum uses easyfundraising to do food shops at supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and I use clothing shops such as ASOS. Plus, since I’m learning to drive I’ve collected donations just by getting insurance quotes.”

Karen Kennard, founder of The Scholarship Hub said “Parents are now contributing £138.50 a month* to help plug the gap between Student Finance and actual living costs. It’s the day-to-day living expenses of university that students and families struggle with. Funds4Uni offers a great way for families to contribute towards these additional costs, without dipping in to their own pockets.

To enter the competition all students have to do is register their cause here and start earning donations before September 20th and they will be entered in to a prize draw, with a chance to win an additional £1000.
