AELP appoints Mark Dawe as new CEO

Martin Dunford OBE, chairman of the Association of Employment and Learning Providers, has announcd the appointment of Mark Dawe as the new chief executive of AELP.  Most recently Dawe was chief executive of OCR, the exam board, for five years. He takes over from Stewart Segal after Easter.

Martin Dunford commented: “I am delighted that Mark will be our new CEO at this crucial time for our sector and for those employers and learners we serve.

“We were pleased by the response we had from a number of very high calibre candidates and the selection of Mark has been the result of a very competitive process. The AELP Board and I look forward to working with him.” 

Dawe brings a wide range of relevant experience to the role including working in the former Department for Education and Skills, an exam board CEO and a college principal. He has also been a member of the AELP board in the past.

Dawe said “I am very excited about taking on this role at a time when the delivery of traineeships, apprenticeships and workplace learning is at the heart of the government’s strategy. It is a privilege to be working for almost 800 members helping them and the government achieve success in the productivity agenda through a fundamental shift in skills policy, ultimately for the benefit of the workforce and organisations of all types and sizes in the UK.”
