Bertrand Moingeon, head of Executive Education, ESCP Europe

Professor Bertrand Moingeon joins ESCP Europe as Executive Vice President and Dean for Executive Education and Corporate initiatives as of 1 September 2018.

A Professor of strategic management, Bertrand Moingeon holds a PhD in sociology and is a qualified Ph.D. supervisor. A former visiting Professor at Harvard Business School, he published over 100 articles, chapters and books focusing on subjects such as change management, organisational learning, strategic innovation and experience management. His co-authors include Harvard Professor Amy Edmondson and Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus.

He held management positions at HEC Paris as Deputy Director of HEC Executive Education then Deputy Dean in charge of Executive Education and Academic Development. Under his leadership, HEC's Executive Education division developed at a very strong rate: its turnover was multiplied by 15, and it rose from 23rd to 1st place worldwide in the Financial Times ranking between 1998 and 2013.

Bertrand Moingeon set up and managed the HEC Indian Ocean, and Southern and Eastern Africa branches. He is also the co-founder and director of the HEC Institute of Europe, chaired by former French Minister Noëlle Lenoir.

With this recruitment, one year after announcing the 2018-2022 strategic plan that shoulders ESCP Europe's financial autonomy in 2022, Frank Bournois, Dean and Executive President of ESCP Europe, wants to take the highly strategic activity of Executive Education of the school to a new level: "Our degree programmes, and particularly the Bachelor, are developing at the desired speed and in accordance with our business plan. I’m glad to welcome Bertrand to ESCP Europe. His highly-recognised skills and experience will enable ESCP Europe to extend its cooperation with companies. We have a unique European structure as a genuine differentiating factor. This breeding ground for innovation both for traditional and digital segments will be a key-pillar of our development" underlines Frank Bournois.

"ESCP Europe is unique: it is not only the oldest business school in the world but also the most European, with its six campuses. As a convinced European, I am very proud to join this beautiful institution where multiculturalism is valued on a daily basis. The Dean has managed to generate a fresh impetus of growth and international influence, supported by a very innovative business model, and I am pleased to be able to take part in this. Providing lifelong professional learning for managers and executives, reinforcing companies' abilities to learn and innovate, and fostering a Europe-Asia, Europe-America, or Europe-Africa dialogue, are extremely stimulating projects. It is an honour to be able to contribute to the international development of ESCP Europe's Executive Education and to contribute to the School’s ambition to become the best European Business School" adds Bertrand Moingeon.

As a member of the ESCP Europe Executive Committee, Bertrand Moingeon will have federal responsibility and supervise Executive Education operations on the School's six campuses.

On 2 January 2018, ESCP Europe adopted the autonomous statute of EESC (Etablissement d’Enseignement Supérieur Consulaire). The School’s management is from now centred around Dean and Executive President Professor Frank Bournois, and three Executive Vice-Presidents:

  • Etienne Desmet: Secretary General, in charge of Transformation and Quality (accreditation and rankings).
  • Professor Léon Laulusa: in charge of Academic and International Affairs
  • Professor Bertrand Moingeon: in charge of Executive Education and Corporate Initiatives.
