From education to employment

ETF seeks new trustees to join its Board

The Education and Training Foundation (@E_T_Foundation) is seeking new trustees who can bring either industry and employer perspectives, or a deep understanding of the FE and Training sector, gained at a senior level, to its Board.

Successful applicants will play a key role in the organisation’s governance, contributing to strategic decision making, and improving the delivery of education and training in the sector. Successful applicants must also have a commitment to the values and strategic objectives of the ETF, be able to think creatively and flexibly and have strategic vision.

Applicants with a background in the FE and Training sector are expected to have significant experience at a leadership level, a national reputation with key stakeholders including Government and employers, and significant experience and appreciation of systemic and organisational change.

For those with backgrounds in industry or with a large employer, the ETF is seeking Individuals who have worked at a senior (director) level with leadership expertise in either the public sector/Civil Service, HR, skills and talent, digital and technology, or system and organisational change. It is expected that they will have experience of working with Government through large contracts and/or grants, and of engineering and leading large-scale change programmes in a sector or system where change is a constant.

The time commitment for each role is expected to be 8–12 days per annum. Appointments are made for a term of three years, with the potential to be renewed for one further term. Meetings are primarily hosted in central London, but virtual options are available. The positions are not remunerated, but expenses are paid. The ETF and its Board values and recognises the benefits of diversity across its leadership and staffing, and welcomes applications for these positions from individuals from all backgrounds and particularly from young, disabled or Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic individuals.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 14 October 2021, with interviews expected to take place during the week commencing 1 November.
