Online assistive technology (AT) learning provider, Learning Labs has partnered with chartered psychologist Dr Sue Wilkinson to launch a free webinar series this month showing how neuroscience-based learning can improve one-to-one training.

Leading research findings in neuroscience have been applied to the development of Learning Labs software, maximising the learning potential for individuals in receipt of disabled students allowance (DSA).

As a leading neurodiversity expert, cognitive psychologist and the International Baccalaureate head of e-assessment, Dr Sue Wilkinson is a specialist in the field of educational interventions for individuals with cognitive impairments. Dr Wilkinson plans to share advice on how neuroscience-informed software can support one-to-one AT training.

The free webinar series commencing 19th January focuses on how Learning Labs’ bespoke AT software platform can support a high quality learning experience with improved outcomes for learners, as well as an efficient and successful work life for assessors and trainers.

Assessors and trainers looking for new tools and software specifically designed to complement one-to-one AT training are encouraged to join the free webinar to discover the benefits of using the Learning Labs solution.

IB head of e-assessment Dr Sue Wilkinson said: “Part of my role is to share my discoveries of best practice in educational interventions for learners with additional learning needs with other educational professionals.

“Learning Labs is unique in that it has been developed with leading neuropsychologists including Dr Chris Wood of Newcastle University and Dr John Welch of Newcastle upon Tyne hospitals.

“By understanding the science behind how the brain learns and how to best support learners with additional learning needs, the Learning Labs platform has created three modes of learning so that learners have the choice to ‘read, watch or do’ any of the interventions.

“This is an innovative and effective approach for tailoring learning to the individual, as it offers the learner choice in their preferred method of learning.

“I hope assessors, trainers, disability workers and support workers all join us on the free webinar, as we aim to give confidence and better understanding of using the Learning Labs platform to enhance AT training and learning.”

There are four separate webinar dates for people to sign up to, with the first commencing Friday 19th January 2018.
