From education to employment

Keep calm and carry on!

Keep calm and carry on was the topic of conversation when mental health expert and comedienne Sheila McMahon delivered a talk to an audience of over 100 gathered for the recent Sandwell Headteachers’ Conference.

Lichfield counsellor Sheila was thrilled to be selected once again to be a keynote speaker at this annual two day event aimed at improving teachers’ knowledge as well as understanding of SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) students.

As with all of her talks and shows, there was a mix of mental health education, discussion on coping mechanisms and techniques, including anger management, guided meditation, and comedy, with her main message to be proactive rather than reactive in managing situations with SEMH students.

Sheila, CEO of Mind Management For You, was also delighted to be recognised by many teachers attending the event who remembered her from delivering mental health talks at their schools, including Hargate School in West Bromwich, where she currently does counselling sessions, Perryfields Primary in Sandwell and Meadows School in Oldbury.

The event, which was held in Warwick, was organised by Neil Toplass, who is the executive headteacher of Shenstone Lodge School and other speakers included Jason Bangbala.

Sheila runs training workshops as well as delivering talks and mini mental health comedy shows in schools, for education providers, businesses and at events.
