Remit apprentice takes home national automotive award‏

26 ‏year old Remit Group apprentice Ashleigh Bain was named Outstanding Student of the year at the recent 2018 Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) Awards.‏

‏The vehicle parts apprentice from Inverness is in the final year of her automotive apprenticeship with Parks Motor Group. She is completing her training with national training provider, Remit Group, which specialises in automotive training.‏

‏As part of the award entry, Ashleigh was praised for her commitment and dedication to her role as a member of the Parts Department at Parks Motor Group and is described as having ‘everything you would look for in an apprentice.’‏

‏She was credited recently for taking on board a project within the business to help enhance trade sales, creating mail shots and developing new order books to help streamline processes within the company. Although this has only just started, Parks has already begun to see increases in trade sales within the department. ‏

‏Iain Cairns, Apprentice Development Coach at Remit Group said: “Her outstanding dedication to the job and her apprenticeship is truly outstanding. Ashleigh’s working day involves a two hour round trip to and from Parks and despite also struggling at times with health issues, you would never know as she is always very positive, cheerful and extremely hard working in both her job and her qualification. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Ashleigh and she goes over and above to support her colleagues whenever she can. ‏

‏“Ashleigh is a shining example of an apprentice and an employee and I have no doubts that she will one day be managing a parts department and will fly high in her future career.”‏

‏Ashleigh commented: “I was really surprised to find out I had won this award but was very happy and proud at the same time. I love my job and am really enjoying my apprenticeship. Iain is a great Coach and I have already learnt so much from him. ‏

‏“I just try my best every day to work hard and complete all of my apprenticeship work on time and to a high standard. ‏

‏“I have really enjoyed being given the opportunity to make a difference to processes at work, like the project to enhance trade sales, as it gives me lots of experience and allows me to develop ideas I have that I think will benefit Parks.‏

‏“Winning this award has been such a lovely surprise for me and it just makes me want to continue working hard and developing in my career.”‏

‏The annual IMI Outstanding Achievers Awards ceremony took place on Thursday 18th October at IMI Fanshaws, Hertfordshire where IMI Patron Prince Michael of Kent attended to recognise the growing talent within the industry. ‏
