Students scoop Swansea Bay Radio awards

Two students from Gower College Swansea have achieved success at the Swansea Bay Radio Young Achievers Awards 2018.

Patrick Langdon-Dark won the Young Sports Star of the Year title, which was sponsored by Celtic Minor Golf Club.

Surfer Patrick was until very recently a student at the College’s Gorseinon Campus studying Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science.

From winning the 2017 U18 UK Night Surf in Newquay, to representing Wales at senior level in the European Championships in Norway, it has been quite a year for Patrick. His most recent success has been selection to represent Wales in the World Championships in Huntington Beach, California, in October.

Mariusz Gawarcki won the Young Apprentice of the Year title, which was sponsored by P.E.S Fire and Security Systems.

Originally from Poland, Mariusz began his learning journey at 16 with a Pathways to Apprenticeship programme at the College. He has picked up many awards in the years since, and has become a real role model to his peers.

Congratulations both – well deserved!
